Druva Beefs Up Backup for inSync Private Cloud

Druva Beefs Up Backup for inSync Private Cloud
July 6, 2013 7:58AM

Druva Adds Multi-Destination Backup to inSync Private Cloud for High Availability -- Ensures Continuous Data Access for End Users with Dual Destination Backup & Automatic Failover

Your Next Generation Data Center Is Here! Vblock™ Systems: the world's most advanced converged infrastructure are built on the Cisco Unified Computing System with Intel® Xeon® processors. Vblock™ Systems deliver extraordinary time to market, ROI and TCO, and flexibility to meet your continually changing demands with 5X faster deployment, 96% less downtime, and 1/2 the cost. SUNNYVALE, CA -- July 5, 2013 -- Druva has enhanced the high availability features offered with private cloud deployments of its inSync endpoint data protection and governance platform to ensure continuous user access to all desktop, laptop, tablet and smartphone data backed up by inSync. New multi-destination backup and automatic failover capabilities extend the benefits of the inSync Private Cloud for organizations using the inSync platform to defend themselves against endpoint data theft, mobile device loss and unmanaged file sharing as well as to track the movement of all endpoint data across devices and users for governance and compliance purposes.

One of more than 70 enhancements in the latest inSync edition, the new private cloud high availability feature minimizes productivity losses for both end users and IT personnel in the event of a disaster at the primary storage destination. Capabilities include:

  • Dual destination backups to primary and secondary servers with individually configurable backup schedules
  • Automatic failover of backup and restore operations to the secondary site, enabling end users to access backed-up documents and other data even in disaster scenarios
  • Periodic population of the secondary server by the primary, accelerating secondary backups while also reducing bandwidth needs

Organizations that deploy inSync using Druva private cloud architecture also gain easy deployment and management of inSync across a global organization, elastic storage on demand, and the ability to leverage the scalability and flexibility of the cloud while also meeting corporate security and compliance requirements mandating that infrastructure be hosted behind the company firewall.

The inSync Private Cloud can be managed by in-house IT staff or delivered as a managed service. On-premise and public cloud deployments are also available.

All deployment options offer inSync's integrated suite of endpoint data backup, file sharing, data loss prevention and analytics solutions, designed to protect and govern data on both fixed and mobile endpoint devices. Benefits include consolidated endpoint policy management across all devices and users, global deduplication across backup and file sharing, a single client experience across all endpoint data for end users, and a complete audit trail of data both at rest and in motion.

A Ponemon Institute study calculated that this unified strategy can save enterprises more than $8,100 per user every year by eliminating point solutions, reducing storage and bandwidth requirements, increasing end user productivity, and avoiding data loss with associated remediation costs.

More information on the latest inSync upgrades -- including new tools for data governance, IT-managed file sharing, OS migration and rapid mass deployments as well as private cloud high availability -- is available at http://www.druva.com/insync/5-2/
